We are a multi-generational, caring church committed to supporting one another in our faith journey. Christian education, worship, and mission are all important to us. We try to provide meaningful programming for young and old alike. We take seriously Jesus’ call to discipleship.
Each Sunday all ages participate in Christian education and then gather for worship afterwards. Child care is provided for infants and toddlers during the Sunday School hour and for infants through first graders during worship. However, children of all ages are encouraged to attend all our worship services and programs.
We are a member of the American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA), the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts and the Westwood Interfaith Council. We treasure our Baptist ties as well as our ecumenical and interfaith relationships. The ABCUSA is one of the most liberal of the many Baptist denominations. We are Christ-centered, uphold the Bible as the Word of God, celebrate believer’s baptism by immersion, practice open communion, ordain women into ministry, and we respect theological differences and varying Biblical interpretations.
Our physical plant in some ways reflects who we are as a people and how we engage in ministry. We worship in the meeting house that was built in 1730 and has been moved three times. (And it is air-conditioned!) Our educational wing (including Sunday School rooms, fellowship hall, offices, meeting rooms, etc.) was built in 1966 and is all on one level. The two buildings are linked together and are handicapped accessible. And our eight acre lot provides plenty of parking! We are a mixed group of young and old and in some ways we are a people of tradition with openness to trying new things. We recognize how blessed we are and try to share those blessings with others through local, national, and international missions support and participation.
