Church History

Our venerable meetinghouse was first built in 1731, near the intersection of Nahatan and Clapboardtree Streets, to serve the newly created parish in the southern part of Dedham.

When it was decided in 1808 to replace the old meetinghouse, which needed extensive repairs, a number of members of the congregation joined the First Baptist Church in Medfield.

FBC also hosts the Westwood Nursery School and the Westwood Children’s School daycare center, is the home base of Boy Scout Troop 3 of Westwood, and serves as the meeting place for several local organizations
